About Hope Addiction Medicine
Evidence-based medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders.
Our Mission
Substance use disorders are chronic medical conditions — not moral failures. Hope Addiction Medicine was founded to fill a critical gap in outpatient medication-assisted treatment access in the Charleston Lowcountry. We treat opioid and alcohol use disorders with FDA-approved medications, clinical rigor, and the compassion that every patient deserves. Whether this is your first attempt at treatment or your fifth, you will be treated with dignity and respect.
Our Approach
We take a dual approach: FDA-approved medications combined with counseling and behavioral therapies. Research shows that this combination addresses both the physical and psychological sides of addiction, can cut the risk of overdose death by about half, and keeps more patients in treatment than either part alone. We prescribe buprenorphine (Suboxone), Sublocade monthly injections, naltrexone (Vivitrol), and acamprosate. We coordinate with your counselor, therapist, probation officer, and other providers. We monitor progress through regular visits, urine drug screens, and prescription drug monitoring program checks.
Who We Serve
We welcome self-referred individuals seeking confidential treatment, court-referred patients (drug court, probation, pretrial services), hospital and emergency department referrals (post-overdose, post-detox), referrals from therapists and counselors, and referrals from other medical providers. We meet you where you are.
Part of Hope Health Network
Hope Addiction Medicine is part of Hope Health Network, a multi-practice healthcare network in the Charleston Lowcountry. Through the network, MAT patients who also need primary care or non-SUD behavioral health services can be referred to the appropriate practice. Separate front doors, connected at the back door.
